A viral video currently shows the moment Guinness World Record holder Hilda Effiong Bassey and her team test-ran the pot she plans to use for her latest culinary challenge. She had previously announced online that she would be attempting to make history by cooking the largest pot of jollof rice ever.
In the video discovered by Tuzzuper, a large group of people can be seen using long ladles to stir rice in the massive pot as preparations for the record attempt continue.
Bassey, a sociology graduate from Madonna University who has become a household name in Nigeria, is likely to break this ambitious record she is aiming for. Known for her determination and flair for taking on tough challenges, Hilda previously held the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon (cook-a-thon). That record, which earned her widespread acclaim across the country, was later surpassed by Irish chef Alan Fisher, who clocked in 119 hours and 57 minutes.
In August 2021, Hilda also won the Jollof Faceoff competition. Now, the Nigerian chef, restaurateur, and actress is once again making headlines—and could be well worth watching.
